The transition to sustainable aviation is essential to future connectivity, jobs, and economic growth. On Wednesday 7 January, our founder Michel van Ierland sat down with Thomas van Zijl of BNR Zakendoen, a popular Dutch radio show about business, finance and innovation, to talk about the economic argument for making certified hydrogen-powered flight a reality.
Michel spoke about the importance of proven engineering, evidence-based progress, and collaboration across the aviation ecosystem to make certified hydrogen-powered flight a reality. Beginning with retrofitting DeHavilland’s Dash 8-300, an airframe which offers the right scale to make hydrogen-electric propulsion viable, certifiable, and operational, our approach accelerates adoption. Moreover, it builds the experience needed to scale to larger aircraft, and keeps us on track toward carrying the first paying passengers on a certified hydrogen-powered flight by 2030, strengthening the Netherlands’ long-term role in sustainable aviation well beyond 2040.
Many thanks to Thomas van Zijl and the team at BNR Nieuwsradio for inviting Michel on your show! Listen to the full interview (in Dutch)
