Senior Engineer Controls
Hydrogen Aircraft Powertrain and Storage Systems
Conscious Aerospace is looking for an experienced Senior Engineer Controls in our Engineering department. The HAPSS control system will seamlessly connect subsystems (e.g. hydrogen distribution, Fuel Cell Systems, e-motor and cockpit interface) to deliver the required aircraft thrust and provide relevant data to the cockpit.

Your mission
You will play a key role in the development and integration of Hydrogen Powertrain technologies in a variety of aerospace applications. You will be part of a highly motivated team working in a fast-paced environment delivering engineering solutions that will secure the future of aviation.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as technical authority for control system designs/architectures, while fostering innovative and creative (design) solutions that meet aviation certification and safety standards.
- Develop system requirements for control systems, mainly focused on the Hydrogen Aircraft Powertrain and Storage System (HAPSS), based on project objectives.
- Design system architecture and processes to control key components including fuel cells, HV storage batteries, PLC’s, power electronics, sensor selection, system safety, etc.
- Support with overall electrical system architecture design and interfaces from a controls perspective.
- Develop, manage, and interpret testing for the purpose of product sign off and risk mitigation.
- Provide onsite support during HAPPS deployment customer acceptance testing.
- Coordinate with electrical, control, mechanical & hydrogen system suppliers in the development, integration, and testing of cooling, power generation and distribution systems related to HAPPS.
- Provide direction to other team members to facilitate construction and testing of HAPPS.
Job requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical and/or Controls Engineering (or closely related field) is required. Master’s degree in a relevant field is an advantage.
- 5+ years of relevant engineering experience.
- Knowledge of structured (control) system engineering processes. Knowledge of safety standards for software and complex electronic hardware is an advantage.
- Demonstrated experience in hydrogen system development engineering surroundings.
- Demonstrated experience in one or more of the following areas is a plus: Hydrogen storage – hydrogen distribution, Fuel Cell Systems, High Voltage Design, Combined HV and LV Architecture, DC/DC and AC/DC Power Conversion, Wire Harnesses, EMI Mitigation, Electric Motors, Industrial PLC experience.
- Demonstrated ability to understand complex engineering challenges and deliver timely solutions.
- System specs, traceability, and verification infrastructure knowledge.
- System functional test plans, including software testing and verification.
- System safety assessments, failure hazard analysis, and certification test plans.
- Strong communication skills and experience working under pressure in a small high performing team.
- Occasional travel to suppliers and industry events.
- Occasional travel in and out of out of country to customer sites.
