Advancing Hydrogen-Powered Flight with the CA2100

Could the Dutch Coast Guard be flying with hydrogen-powered aircraft soon?

According to our founder Michel van Ierland, certified hydrogen-powered flight is steadily becoming a reality.

Last week, Michel sat down with Charles Alcock of Aviation International News, to talk about the progress of our CA2100 hydrogen-electric propulsion program.

In the article, Michel shared that Conscious Aerospace has begun with preliminary design work for the CA2100, with ground test rig development being targeted for 2028 and flight testing to follow in 2029. The goal: certified hydrogen-electric regional and special-mission operations at the turn of the decade.

As Michel explained in the interview: “The program is about enabling zero-emission flight within today’s aviation ecosystem, prolonging the life of proven aircraft while building the certification and operational foundation for future hydrogen platforms. The Dutch Coast Guard’s fleet is a good example of a potential early adopter of this conversion program.”
